A spanish prepositions rant.

Vaso de Agua, Vaso con Agua

Vaso de Agua - Vaso con agua

A spanish prepositions rant.

Ok, to my english readers, I'm sorry, but this post is more to do with a Spanish thing about prepositions.
Since I never really learned the correct use of prepositions in English, actually neither in Spanish, except for this case. I can't think of something similar to explain it in English.

So for today, I just say Hello to you.

If interested yet about my rant, well its in Spanish.

Kisses
Jessica

Bye

No wonder I am fat, If I eat all that.

It contains a piece of deer meat. I like the taste of deer.
A piece of Tepezquintle meat (you don't want to know what that is) It has a very interesting taste.
A piece of turkey. but it is wild turkey. Tastes a little different than the one bought at stores.

Tikal Temple

Tikal Temple

This is one of the tall Temples in Tikal.
Wow, they are really, really tall.
Good thing, they put those wood stairs one can climb, thats a great idea, that way, the original stone stairs doesn't get destroyed by thousands of tourists.
And they found a way to put them, that they do not ruin the view of the Pyramids.
As you can see, it was a long, long climb upstairs.

But really it's worth it to go up

Tikal Sunrise

Tikal Sunrise

Tikal Sunrise

Now to start with the images from Tikal.

There was this tour that, you have to be ready to go, at 3:30 am, but you were to see the sunrise, from the top of the Sun Temple.
A marvelous opportunity, so I decided to go with that.

Its amazing to walk in the Tikal Jungle, when it is still dark, and hear the sounds of animals all around you, without seen anything except few parts of the roads, from the few lamps.
Then one has to go up the temple, by climbing some wood stairs, when it is still a bit dark.
But one you arrive to the top, the view is amazing, you can see the jungle from a above, and just the tips of the tallest pyramids.

Unfortunately it was a bit cloudy that morning, so the sun was seeable, after it was a bit above the horizon, still for a little time, skiy had a little hint of orangish tone.

But the other great thing about that, is the sounds.
To hear how the jungle comes into life, as the sun rises, is amazing.
Every second, more and more birds, singing, saying Hello to the new day. And the ocassional ones flying around.
The far away sound of the howler monkeys.
It's amazing.

The photos, top, one of the first ones, that got a bit of sun reflect in the clouds.
The bottom one, a close-up of the pyramids tops, above the jungle.

I am posting a video I took with the old camera, over here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAwnble1r4I
if you decide to look at it, its much better if sound is active.

So I did travelled to the south
To the country of Guatemala.
My plan to see the Mayan ruins of Tikal.

To go there, is a nice long bus travel. From the island I live aproximately, 16 hours by bus, to the Island of Flores.

A nice little town, build in an island in the middle of the Lake Peten. Very pretty. The lake is huge.

Also a nice place to swim, and there is nothing better, to relax after a long bus trip, with the warm hot weather, than to take a nice swimming in the nice calmed waters of the Peten Lake.

The pictures.
Top a nice photo of a guy in his boat with his dog, cruising along the Lake.
Bottom, is the island of Flores, seen from a boat.

Estelas Yaxchilan

One of the architectural beauties in some Mayan sites, are the Estelas (I don't know if there is a word in english).

Used to mark a date or event, or to honor a ruler, king, warrior.

The Amazing thing about them is the great level of details they have, the esthetical balance, all the artistic feeling they convey.

And sometime, some of them are huge, big.

Definitively the work of amazing mayan artists from the past.

And here are two of the Estelas, that can be seen in Yaxchilan.

I took, this photo of a bee, I liked the result.

Bees are such nice little insect, allways buzy, flying around from flower to flower. Pollinating, creating new life.

And they make honey, Honey is such a sweet thing to eat.

And as a cultural note, the state I now live, is famous for its great honey, which indeed it is.

Must have been a really nice place, and with lots of riches due to a very fertile land, and being next to the Usumacinta River.

To go into one of the little boats for a 40 minute ride in the river, to Yaxchilan
Or to go swimming.
It is just a little dangerous, with the few cocodriles in the river, and the ocassional water twirl. or is it (whirlwater)

Located in a special room in the main piramid there, they are located in three smaller rooms.

Fist stop, Bonampak, in the state of Chiapas.
It's a small archeological site, only a couple of buildings

And as with all these places, being in the middle of the jungle, one can see lots of greens , and sometimes animals.

Mi friend Vania

Mi amiga Vania

Mi friend Vania

Hi, well today I want to introduce you to my friend Vania.
One day by chance a added her to my messenger list, and started talking.
And we just kept talking, and talking, and talking.
She is really nice to talk to, plus she has a wonderfull collection of high heels.
And there is no words to express how pretty she looks, words cant match what the photos show.
An amazing thing is the cleaveage she shows, wow.

Also on my last visit to DF, I had the pleasure to meet her in person, too bad we couldn't get a pic of the two of us girls together, maybe in the future.

Well, my friend, gave permit to post her photos, and agreed to write a little intro about her, so here I post it.
Hopefully that will encourage her to start her own blog, jejejej. I know she can write quite good, from other writtings she had sent me before.

Also, any request for contact, can be made here, via a comment.

A big hug and kiss to my friend Vania

Well, finally here is her writting (translated by me, original is in spanish)

Hola

Hello
If you ask me who I am, the answer is simple, Who I didn't have the courage to be before.
Thanks to Jessica for the invite to write, and thanks to whoever reads it, since I am as normal as anyone else. or at least that’s my dream, be as normal that I can walk free in the streets, no-one turning around to see me with a strange look, without fearing someone might say something nasty. unfortunately, in our society that happens a lot, due to the macho-style complex that exist.
I could say a thousand thing about me, but I'll try to not overwhelm you, I'll just say, I am a girl in her second year of life, after 35 years of repressing myself, and fortunately I been growing in big steps, till there is still a lot to grow as a woman.

Vania de Santiago
