Archeology Visits in Quintana Roo

Archeology Visits in Quintana Roo

As I told, extra to visiting the lagoons around Chetumal Area, I also visited a couple of archeological Sites.

So to describe the pictures.

Top Let, in a mayan site Kohunlich, is a view of the top construction of a complex called the "27 escalones (27 steps)" because is on top of a little hill, and have to climb 27 steps, It said there it was the habitational place for the priests.
Top Right, the main thing of Kohunlich, is a temple calle "Templo de las mascaras (temple of the masks)" in which there are still five of the mask decorations, they are really cool, here is one of them, maybe a god, or a king, or a warrior.
Center Left, well not exactly Mayan, but is a view of the Fort in Bacalar, used to defend agaisnt the pirates, with an old cannon and all, and also with a great view of the Bacalar Lagoon.
Center Right, is a view of the main plaza of Kohunlich, can see a couple of pyramids hiding behind all the trees.
Bottom left, is a Pyramid in the site of Oxtankah which is mayan for "Beetwenn the big trees", lots of vegetation there, pyramids not so tall here, but impressive anyway.
Bottom Right, well, that not Mayan, its a Chatolic old church built on Oxtankah, when spanish catholic priest saw they didn't manage to make the local go to church, so they built church in mayan site. Also in that place Jessica took herself a picture, that will never be showed.

So, thats a few views of the archeology around Chetumal, there are a couple more sites on the way, that I couldn't make to visit, so maybe next time.

Kisses
Jessica, the pyramid viewer
