Green Balloon
Green Balloon
when I was little there was one thing that could keep me busy for hours.
All that was needed was a balloon and some air.
I would play and play to see how much longer could I kept it from falling to the floor, throwing it up, and up.
It was a great and cheap way to have lots of fun.

PS. by the way, in that photo I had the perfect smile, full of joy, but well the balloon just happened to cross into the frame, jejejeje

Berries
Berries
Walking in the forest, I saw little fruits and berries. Growing in the wild.
All of them looking so yummi and tempting.
Specially this ones, me really wanted to take one and eat it,
But then there would be two problems.
Problem 1, if they tasted good, I would want to eat them all
Problem 2, didn't knew if they are edible, or poisonous. And I think I dont want to die by poison.
So, better let them be there, and brought a picture with me.

A Walk into the forest
A Walk into the forest
This photo was taken in a place called Mont Tremblant, in Canada.
Its a very lovely town, with houses in an interesting style.
During winter is a sky place, covered with snow it must be very pretty.
During summer, the forest is all green. An the thing to do is to walk the trails around town.
A very good exercise. when we were there it ws a little foggy, so it added more suspense to the walking.
At some parts, the track is barely noticeable, only a few red tags on the trees to guide you were to go.
Didn't saw bears.
Amazing to walk among all those trees.

NotreDame Basilica in Montreal
NotreDame Basilica in Montreal
From the outside it looks like any big church.
You approach the entrance door, a bit shadowy.
Then you enter, and Wow, that was my actual reaction to this view, to just say Wow.
The pretty decorations, the colors, the light games, and that blue tones, shinning to you, is just marvelous.
A must see thing.
One might spend hours, just looking at all the decorations, to all the little details, to all the light games through the vitral windows.

A scary window knock
A scary window knock
This is a story of something that happened a while ago.
As I have told, I use to sleep in girl pijamas. SO one night I went to sleep as usual.
At some point I heard a knock on my window, (since I dont have a doorbell, thats how people knock at my place)
So as I was starting to wake up, when I heard a male voice saying "Hey pretty, nice butt"
That scared me, someone saying that meant that he was able to see inside my room. How much was he able to see?? Was it like the one time that one of the courtain fall of, leting half window exposed to the street?? Was it a courtain a bit a side?? Was it only a little area??
The knock on the window reapeatted, this time saying "Her pretty, wake up, let me see more", this time I noticed the voice, as a drunk person.
I decided to play the part of "I am deep sleeping, nothing wakes me up".
The person tried a couple of knocks, then they stopped. I decided to wait a bit more, before giving a look toward the window.
There was a little openning in between both courtains, apparently and hopefully he was only able to see from the middle leg till to the middle of the back. Still a scary experience

The Lights
Looking Up
Looking Up
Living my childhood in a city where hot weather was rare, we only had one air-fan, of the little ones that we put over a table.
Then at some time, we were going very often to a city called Tampico, near the sea, with a very hot weather.
So at some point my dad bought some ceiling fans.
They just hang from the ceiling, along with the lamp, just going around, moving the air. Not a big thing. They served their purpose, to keep us a bit cooler.
Then it was time to go to sleep, to bed, and the moment I saw that fan, just hanging there, above my head, moving its blades in circles to create air.
But my mind had another idea, my imagination set free decided to give me images of the ceiling fan, coming down, spinning, and to cut my head, my brains and blood all over the room.
I know what a creepy thing to think, but that was me.
And so, I would stare at it, as long as I could stay awake, ready to jump off the bed the moment that deathly thing came down.
Of course, I didn't die of the attack of the spinning fan. But for a time, that thing really scared me.

The Most Evil Cloud Ever
The Most Evil Cloud Ever
Today, I woke up, happy at 4:30 am. I was going to go away from the lights of the city, to see the moon eclipse.
It was supposed to be a very interesting one, since during it, the moon was to show a red color.
AS I was going away from the city, a few stars appeared on the sky over my right side.
To the left I was then suddenly able to se a very dim red glow over the trees. To where the moon goes down.
I drive, to finally see one of the spots with a clear view.
And , oh, the horror, the sadness, the cries.
There it was, the most Evil cloud formation ever.
Not allowing me to see the moon.
I know its bakc there, there is the orange glow, but thats as much as I could see.
Thats the second astronomical event, that evil clouds over this evil island forbid me to see.

Agua Azul
Agua Azul
This are the great Agua Azul Waterfalls in Chiapas
This panorama was made with the Canon PhotoStitch, using 4 photos of the Waterfalls, they are too big, that they don't fit in just one photo in my Camera. Thats why the sky looks a bit of different colors.
They are indeed one natural wonder one must see.
Yes, the water is not so blue in the pic, but being start of rain season I was told that is the reason.

Homework Girl
Homework Girl
One of the things I never understood about school was Homework, I hated doing homework.
Yes some people say that it is needed to really learn, but is it?? is that doing something a thousand times really a better way to learn??
Isn't it learning by repetition?? Instead of learning by understanding.
So I always thought homework was the most pointless and stupid thing ever. That was until high school, then I still thought homework was a stupid thing, but a stupid thing thatcame with economic benefits. Specially Math homework.

One day while on school off time, while surfing channels on tv with my little sister, e found a cartoon that having nothing better to watch, decided to give it a chance.
The program was Sailor Moon, from the line of chapters, where the invaders or evil characters where like circus people, so the Sailor Scouts fighted against juglers, fire-artists, and so.
A a start looked like a cartoon that couldn't make much sense of itself, but as I saw it a few more times, It caught my attention.
Being day of no school, I ended up seeing all the chapters, and from then on I liked all the chapters.
There is a series of Chapters, called sailor Super Stats, where there are 3 boys that are from a band, but then they transform Into Sailor Girls, thats a nice thought
So imagine how happy I was when I found out where to buy a costume similar to the school outfit of the Sailors. I would be even more happy if I found a Sailor Mars outfit, my favorite Sailor.
One thing, is that I decided to try it with the hair in Braid Style.
I look funny in a silly way

Darkness Inside
Darkness Inside
Looking her eyes, as tender as always, capable of disarming even the most ferocious bandit.
Touching her hands, so soft and delicate, a single caress would be enough to forget any pain.
Her laughter, so full of life, with a happy and paused rhythm
Her voice, always so peaceful, showing her intelligence, her calmed way of speak, a voice he dreamed about.
Surprise, as the words began to make sense, how did she found out.
Would those be the words that will make him remember her.
"What are you waiting for, kill me and stop suffering"
The Mixul-Ha Waterfalls
Mini Waterfall with long exposure time
Mini Waterfall with long exposure time
This is an experiment with longer exposure times, this one was with 0.4 seconds, maybe not long, but enough to make the capture of the water movement look different.
Also shot a few with longer times, but without a tripod quite difficult to not get it blurry when doing more than one second.
This one the rocks look almost as clear as they were, love that green thingie on them.
And to think that waterfall is only like 15 centimeters tall at most.

Toucan
Toucan
One of the things I love of the few places of Mexican Jungle I been, is that every time I go, extra to feels the wilderness of the jungle, to see all those beautiful greens in all the trees, Is that every time I go, I see one live, wild, free animal.
This time it was a toucan. only from a down point of view, since it was, in the top of a very high tree. But to hear it call, see it jump among the branches, even got a couple of photos. Its amazing how many beauties the jungle keeps inside.

Queen Fall
Queen Fall
So what did the biological entity did the weekend before the hurricane hit.
Spent time buying supplies, no, already had a few
Maybe preparing the house to support the rain, No, it really there was not much to protect.
Perhaps, going through the city looking for scape routes, Negative, the is only the bridge to go out the island.
You know one effect of a hurricane, is that it sucks all cloud and humidity in the surrounding areas, which made a promise of a clean sky.
So I decided to make a trip to Chiapas, wanted to go a bit far, but due to the long work nights during the week, couldn't wake up as early as I wanted, so the Palenque Area was as far as I went.
This time, instead of visiting the Pyramids, I decided to take the inside the Jungle trail.
There is in there a nice group of Waterfalls, of which the Queens Bath (named that way, since is believed that the Mayan Queen of Palenque used to bath there) is the prettiest.
But then, once arriving, surprise, it was dry, apparently rain season is really coming that late, the it was just the rock formation.
Yet that made an amazing spectacle in itself, to see the shapes the rocks have taken afters years and years of being rounded, shaped, modified by the pass of water.
I posted Black and white since I believe it shows the shadows and shapes in a cleaner way than color. Crazy Jessica

Street the day after
Street the day after
The day after, since the whole Island was withouth electricity, another day of No working.
But really, without electricity, and not much to go or where to go. Plus the extremely hot weather added to the high levels of humidity, it was a really day that one would be ultra-happy to go work.
Also, I didn't felt like going around the city taking pictures, I just took 2 on my way back to home after breakfast (which was extremely difficult to get).
By night I had electricity, so was able to sleep with my fan giving a bit of cool air. Today back to work, still lots of branches and trees on the streets, some areas still flooded today, but slowly the island is coming back to normal.

Flooding and Rain
Flooding and Rain
Well, the last couple of days I was grounded at home.
Why???
Because the Hurricane Dean.
The Island I live, was in the zone for the red alert for The Hurricane, so one day out of work, for us to go home, and hope it didn't hit too hard.
Well, luckily, from a category 5 hurricane, it went quickly down to a Category 2, and even 1 hurricane, when being close to us. They said it passed by 87 kilometers to the north.
Lots of rain, lots of wind, some areas of the city were flooded, luckily mine not.
It was my first Hurricane, And what impressed me the most was how fast the wind was going, the trees. And it was on its very weak state, I don't want to imagine how it is like when at full strength.
just to see, I uploaded this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=knN7u99ljpM
Another way, was seeing the clouds after the rain went out, they crossed the sky really fast.

Door
Door
A frame of stone, black and cold, in carved square with perfect angles, frmaing a wooden door, soft and polished, without decorations. Soft lines only interrupted by a lock.
Antique, out of place in this modern world of electronic doors, keeping perhaps a secret of old times, or maybe a forgotten treasure.
So much time has passed, that all thief are now electronics experts, its only her that knows the techniques to open this kind of lock. Othewise he would have tried himself.
Curios, to see how she beleives that with only three pieces of wire she wants to defeat that metallic monster. Such a rudimentary technique.
Looks like a game of ages ago, like the chinesse sticks his aunts used to play.
Then a click sounds, a smile draws in her face, her cheecks rise, her eyes shine. He notices then how pretty she is, too bad she usually is so cruel.
Sh raises, facing him, with that look of her in the eyes, bit sadistic, that has always scared him.
With a hand on the door, and another on her chest, she says "Its open now, but I doubt it will let you go inside"
She pushes both, the surprise of the movement, or maybe the loss of concentration on looking her, have made him loose balance. He falls observing how she crosses the door frame.
Around her soluitte before it closes, he manages to see, it was just an empty room
Then he understands, the treasure was her, and it was him who locked her away.
There are the little wires, the only tools nedded to release her. He tries, and tries, but if it looked so easy, like a game.
Damn you modern things, now both trapped.
PS. about the photo, is a door handle I saw, and I liked.
Le Chateau Frontenac
Le Chateau Frontenac
The pictures of the trip to Canada are back.
I knwow, I know I been posting them for a long, long time. I promise to try to finish them as quickly as I can.
Also this week been a bit tiresome, everyday, staying at office till over midnight. No time to anything.
Hopefully weekend goes well.
Also there is hurricane alert, we are at the moment in just "pay attention to news" state. Yellow alert, I think is called.
They expect it to hit the other side of the peninsula monday or tuesday.
Me prays it does not hit over there, or not hard, Please hurrican be nice. A special tought to my friend on Cancun.
Also that the rain of the borders does not flood us.
Well back to the photo. This is "Le Chateau Frontenac", that is a very luxurious hotel in Quebec.
I posted two images, since I couldn't decide which one to show off, the light time one, or the night shot. Both just look amazing.

Mayan Drawings
Mayan Drawings
Near calcetok there is another cave, smaller one
The important thing about this one is that on the roof there are some drawings, in theory made by the Mayans.
This Cave is special because the entrance is oriented to the north. thats probably why they selected as a sacred place, and they made the drawings.
Calcetok Caves
Calcetok Caves
This photo is of the entrance of the Calcetok Caves
The Calcetok Caves are the biggest, longest caves in the peninsula of Yucatan.
they are very impressive.
They offer different guided tours inside the caves, from the simple walk in to the main vaults, to the all adventure tour which you have to crawl through the mud, climb walls, go down in cave holes. Of course you need an extra set of clothes.
Me thinks I must return later to do that.
The caves have seen various uses during the time.
During the early mayan times, Mayas used them as ceremonial place.
Later apparently was used as a sacred burial place , the guide tells about a place were they found 10 beheaded skeletons.
Later, during the "war of the castes", the people used them to hide there.
During the spanish colonia, they were also used as hiding place.
Now they are a big tourist attraction.

Water Experiment
Water Experiment
An experiment with merging images.
I took the same photo 3 times.
Then merged the elements of the 3 photos in one photo.
One in overexposed mode, with white balances set to tungsten light, thats the background, that looks a bit blue.
Then in normal exposure, with white balance set to cloudy, thats the water pool, that looks a bit brownish.
The third one, the same, but with a higher iso mode, 400 instead of 100, and a smaller aperture time. Thats the white water spring and some of the bubbles.
Just playing, it kind of looks weird, and a bit cute.
Henequen
Henequen
This are the Henequen fibers
Once dried the are used to do a lot of things. like ropes, bags, hats, clothes, furniture.
Ropes made of henequen are long lasting. And the fiber is flexible enough to bend without breaking.
During a lot of time henequen was a very prosperous industry, that created huge fortunes in Yucatan.
Then the synthetics fibers, plastics arrived, being cheaper and easier to produce, an in bigger volumes, and so Henequen was no longer profitable.

Two Paths
Sitting down I tell
Sitting down I tell
Sitting down in that chair I tell you about the short adventure of Jessica this saturday.
I went to merida again, arrived, got a room, went out eating, still in the boy mode, and realised it was extremelly hot, like a thousand hells.
No option of going out girl, with that temperature, makeup wouldn't last longer than 5 minutes. So he kept fooling around a bit.
a bit later, when sun gas about to go down I went to get all pretty, looking as in the photo I went outside, to a park nearby and t walk a bit around. But turns out that Itook the camera without memory card, so no pictures. I could have returned to the hotel for the memory card, but that would make it as if the only reason to go out was a picture, and it was more to enjoy being outside, walking around the few humans there.
Later it was time to go back, for soon my friend Mercy was to arrive. A message sent, she arrived, changed, mak-up, and ready we were, Two pretty girls to go dancing. A night of talk and dance. I hope my friend enjoyed the out time.
Later time to go back, and to end this short dream of being Jessica

Henequen Plants.
Henequen Plants.
Henequen was named "The green gold", due to the great economic value it created during a long long time.
This are the plants of Henequen. a species of agave, in green color.
The big leaves(pencas) are cut and let dry a bit. After that they are passed to pressing machines that would extract all the liquid of the leaves, leaving at the end the fibers.
The fibers are the transported to hanging places where they are left for days to dry. Its then when the fiber is ready

Dented Wheel
Dented Wheel
One detail of some old machinery in the Hacienda.
It reminds me of the first bike I had whit brakes on the handle
On the previous ones, when you wanted to break, you just set the pedals, as if wantings to ride backward in a very fast movement.
But that one, when you did that, the chain will get loose, out of the dented wheel, and no more going. Had to get hands all dirty to put the chain back. Lots of cuts in my fingers.
But with time, I learned to break with my hands. And the problem disappeared.
Of course this has nothing to do with the picture

And The Devil Walked Among Them
And The Devil Walked Among Them
And it was that on the eleventh day, the devil wearing a blue skirt, walked among them humans, corrupting their souls.
With every step the sound of her heels drove the creatures mad.
Every breeze the smell of her perfume dried the plants.
And just a gaze into her eyes, would turn the heart of the innocent ones into stone.
Oh, forces of destiny, why have you let such evil let loose.
Hacienda
Hacienda
I am going to do a little pause of the Canada Trip pictures, to show about the pictures of this weekend Trip.
Why???
Because.
So this one was taken in an Hacienda in Yucatan.
The Hacienda Ochill.
Haciendas existed all around Mexico during the time of spanish ruling. Dedicated to agriculture and similar.
In Yucatan, the main product was Henequen, and large Haciendas were built around it.
